Anthropic announced Claude Duet on October 21, 2026. Built around Opus 5.5, the standalone app is entering research preview through a waitlist for Pro and Max subscribers in the US. Availability in Israel has not been announced.
Work continues without your computer
Duet has a virtual machine with its own browser. It can continue working while your phone or laptop is off and notify you when work is complete or a decision is required. It carries over memory, Skills and connected apps from your Claude account, reducing the need to rebuild context.
Examples include scheduling meetings, building dashboards, preparing financial or sales forecasts and developing web apps. Anthropic says it can use more than 6,000 connectors and plugins in the Claude Marketplace. That is not a promise of compatibility with every application.
Preparing is different from acting
Duet can read, draft and prepare work on its own. Before sending a message, making a payment, signing a document or deleting anything, it shows the proposed action and waits for approval. Some actions remain prohibited even with approval, including securities trading and transfers between accounts.
Limits and practical implications
Connected accounts are checked every few hours, not continuously. Background checks and larger tasks count against the usage limits shared with the rest of Claude. Anthropic warns that Duet may misread a thread, misjudge urgency or miss something between checks.
For businesses in Israel, this is currently a development to evaluate rather than a service to assume is locally available. The practical lesson is to define what an agent may prepare, what requires approval and which information it may access. Independent execution need not mean independent authority over sensitive decisions.
