OpenAI has expanded the GPT-6 family with two new models: GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna. Both build on GPT-6 Astra’s advances while targeting faster and more affordable work at scale.
Three capability tiers
GPT-6 Astra is designed for the most demanding tasks. GPT-6 Sol targets professional work, coding and agents that need more depth. GPT-6 Luna is aimed at high-volume requests, repetitive processes and automation.
Lower pricing
GPT-6 Sol costs $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. GPT-6 Luna costs $0.10 for input and $0.50 for output. OpenAI says this is 50% lower than GPT-5.6 promotional pricing.
On AutomationBench, GPT-6 Sol scored 33.2% at $0.27 per task. OpenAI attributes the efficiency gains partly to improvements in caching and inference.
Why it matters
Not every task needs the strongest model. For lead handling, CRM updates, call summaries and repetitive workflows, choosing the right model may matter more than achieving the highest benchmark score.
