Apple has introduced its first foldable iPhone, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch Ultra 4, and AirPods 5. The headline product from the September 9 event is the new iPhone Duo.
iPhone Duo: Apple’s first foldable iPhone
iPhone Duo has a 5.4-inch outer display when closed and a 7.6-inch inner display when opened. It is powered by A20 Pro, uses a titanium design, supports IP68 protection, and features a 48MP camera system.
iOS 27 is adapted for the foldable format with Split View, two windows of the same app, an updated StandBy mode, and new Siri AI experiences. Apple also plans to add Apple Pencil support over USB-C later this year.

iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max
The new Pro models use A20 Pro and feature a 48MP main camera with variable aperture. Users can control aperture, shutter speed, white balance, and exposure in the Camera app.
Apple also introduced Apple Reference Image, a feature designed to help verify that a photo was captured by an iPhone camera rather than generated entirely by AI.
iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199 and iPhone 18 Pro Max at $1,299. Pre-orders begin September 12 and availability begins September 18.
Apple Watch and AirPods
Apple Watch Series 12 adds a new Health Sensing System, improved heart-rate monitoring, Siri AI, and Audio Intelligence. It starts at $399.
Apple Watch Ultra 4 adds a new chip, health features, and titanium options. It starts at $799.
AirPods 5 bring Active Noise Cancellation to Apple’s open-ear design, along with improved sound, Siri AI, and Live Translation. They start at $129, while the wireless charging case version costs $149.
The new watches and AirPods go on sale September 18, with pre-orders beginning September 9.
Why the event matters
Apple is connecting its devices into a single AI and personal-context system. The iPhone provides the screen and context, Apple Watch acts as a continuous health sensor, and AirPods become a voice and translation interface.
At $1,999, iPhone Duo is unlikely to become a mass-market product immediately. Apple is using it to test whether people want a phone that can turn into a larger work screen.
